Jill Kelly, PhD, is an editor, author, painter, and poet. She lives in Portland, Oregon, where she works as an editor and coach for writers and other creatives. Her cats, Frannie, Evie, Josie, and Mr. Sam, do all the chores so she can be creative 24/7.
I grew up an avid reader, and I loved language and fiction so much that I became a professor of literature. When I left that career in 1994, I became an editor so I could help all kinds of writers get better work out into the world. In 2000 I started my own creative life.
I have a pretty organized writing life. It didn’t happen overnight but now I journal every night and I write on my current book project every morning. Having a definite project, whether it’s writing 100 poems or creating plots and characters for a new book, keeps me really interested in the process. And writing every morning means I get to start the day doing something that’s very meaningful for me.
I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoy writing them!
